Reduce Business Risk; host emails & website separately

Quite a statement - and probably not something businesses think about. In general, people place a low financial value on their email service, until the email service goes down and they realise just how important their emails reallyare.

This is even more so for businesses that would effectively stop trading while their email service was down.

The current set up for most people is that emails are generally hosted together with the website. There is a section allotted for the website and another for email accounts. Now, for the most part, this is ok, although emails, if undeleted, can start taking up quite a bit of space. But what happens if the hosting goes down?

If you’re a business with an online presence, then having your business website go down is a major issue; nowadays a business website is a big marketing tool / lead conversion. With web hosting companies (including RocketHost) stating 99% uptime, this still allows for up to 3 days downtime in a year - go on admit it - that was a shock right?

But what if your website goes down and so do your emails? Double whammy! This could have a big impact on your bottom line, so now is the time to start thinking about business risk.

By hosting your website and emails separately, you are reducing the risk to almost zero of the likelihood of both being unavailable at the same time. There are many good cloud email services out there; personally speaking RocketHost have been using Google Business Mail for 5 years and I don’t recall there ever being an issue, so it’s definitely worth a look.

It is easy to be put off with the idea of paying for your email with so many offers of FREE EMAIL!!!! But in reality, having your email go down, especially for a business, is so detrimental that it is worth spending a few dollars on a good service.
